Royals Solve Brewers, 4-2
|
The Kansas City Royals stopped the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-2, behind an impressive performance from Johnny Lewis. The top prospect made life miserable for Milwaukee pitching. He was 2-2 with a triple, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. The win was credited to Oscar Villarreal in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Steve Shea took the loss. Kansas City's record now stands at 24-43, placing them last in the National League Left.
Lewis had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a 1-0 curveball from Steve Shea, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Royals a 3-2 lead. It was the 55th hit of the year for Lewis.
"I thought we played a nice game," Lewis told the Kansas City Citizen. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
