Late Rally by Tigers Secures Win
|
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Kansas City Royals, 7-4, at Kauffman Stadium. Detroit designated hitter Walt Moryn was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Tigers, now 5-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Jody Davis to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Tigers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Moryn told the Detroit Chronicle.
