|
New York second baseman Jerry Remy had a good game, even if his team did not. The Mets dropped a 6-5 decision to Bronx at Yankee Stadium I. Remy went 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. Bronx is now 34-30.
Reggie Smith was 2 for 2 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs for Bronx. The slick-fielding center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jay Tibbs. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Smith told the Bronx Daily News.
