Dominant Performance by Paxton in Pittsburgh Win
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates got a strong performance from pitcher James Paxton, who stymied the Chicago offense en route to a 5-0 win at PNC Park. Pittsburgh goes to 37-24. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.
Chicago had little success against Paxton and his slider. Paxton tossed 122 pitches over 8 innings for the Pirates.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Paxton.
