Cardinals Finish Off Brewers in 12
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Ed Correa turned in a top-notch performance against the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium. The result was a win for the Cardinals, 2-1. St. Louis reliever Ralph Botting was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Scott Atchison took the loss. St. Louis now sits in last place in the American League Up at 26-31.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Rocky Colavito came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Chuck Seelbach, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 2-1.
"This wasn't a good win," said Colavito. "It was a great win."
