White Sox Nip Red Sox, 2-1
|
Both teams had their chances, but the South Side White Sox eventually prevailed at Fenway Park.
The South Side White Sox picked up a win at Fenway Park, knocking off the Boston Red Sox, 2-1. Starting pitcher Brad Penny was an essential part of his team's success. In 8.2 innings, Penny surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Mickey Storey converted his 8th save in 12 tries.
The White Sox benefited from a costly error in the top of the sixth. With Jose Ramirez at bat and South Side leading 1-0, the Boston miscue allowed South Side to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"I really like what we did out there today," Ramirez said after the game.
The White Sox bumped their record to 29-27 with this latest triumph.
