Boston Red Sox starter Jaret Wright was in fine form against the South Side White Sox at Fenway Park, leading his team to a 5-3 win. Wright, now 4-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 1 earned run. Chris C Hatcher closed the game out for Boston, earning his 4th save.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from second baseman Vern Stephens. For the game, Stephens went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Boston a 2-0 lead.
Stephens said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
The first-place Red Sox have won 4 straight.
