Cardinals Win 4-3 Walk-Off
|
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 4-3, in American League action at Busch Stadium. The player of the game was St. Louis pitcher and Abilene, Texas native John Lackey. St. Louis reliever Frank Carpin picked up the win to move to 1-0. Frank Biscan suffered the loss. St. Louis, now 4-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With St. Louis trailing 3-2, Yulieski Gurriel hit a slider from Frank Biscan to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Cardinals had a walk-off win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Gurriel said in his postgame press conference.
