Multi-HR Day for Willingham as Mets Overpower Brewers, 5-2
|
New York catcher Josh Willingham played a vital role in his team's 5-2 triumph over Milwaukee. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for New York. Dick Donovan, the winner, improved to 5-3. He held the Brewers to no earned runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 0. Al Hrabosky was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
Willingham came through with some timely hitting for New York. With the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth and one down, Willingham hit a 2-2 fastball for a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season made it 4-2, New York.
