White Sox Win in Extras
|
Dusty Rhodes left his imprint on the 6-5 South Side win against the Kansas City Royals. Rhodes, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in home runs with 13, was 4-7 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The second-place White Sox raised their record to 28-25.
South Side used the timely hitting of Don Baylor to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 16th inning to put the White Sox on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 7 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Kansas City manager Mike Roltgen.
