Dodgers Get Road Win, 9-7
|
Brooklyn first baseman Martin Maldonado was instrumental in his team's 9-7 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Maldonado, who is the 2nd-best prospect in the Dodgers organization, went 1-3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Dodgers. Sherman Corbett recorded the save for Brooklyn, his 1st of the season. At 23-28, the Dodgers are currently third in the American League Down.
Brooklyn used the clutch hitting of Yasmani Grandal to capture the win. The catcher drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Dodgers the lead, 8-7. For the game, Grandal had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Maldonado told the Brooklyn Gazette.
