Casey goes 3-for-5 as Marlins Squeeze Past New York
|
Miami first baseman Sean Casey picked up 4 ribbies while helping his team beat back the New York Mets, 7-6. Dick Pole was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Picking up the save was Nick Willhite, his 2nd.
It could have been a different outcome for Miami, had it not been for Harry Rice, the 29-year old second baseman . Rice contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put Miami up, 4-0.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Casey said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Miami currently is in last place in the American League Down at 19-30.
