Yankees Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Red Sox
In a low-scoring tilt between the Bronx Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, Kerry Wood was the difference-maker. The Bronx right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. The win was credited to Luis Aquino in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Ron Piche took the loss. Bronx leads the American League Down by 3 games.

Bronx used a timely hit from Gee Walker to get the win. The right fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Kerry was throwing strikes, locating well," said Bronx manager Cley Twigg.
