Mets Topple Cardinals with Late Rally
|
New York played host to St. Louis at the friendly confines of Shea Stadium.
The Mets had to overcome a fine performance from St. Louis pitcher John Lackey to grab a 2-1 win at Shea Stadium. Lackey allowed 2 earned runs over 8.2 innings. The first-place Mets have a one-game lead in their division.
Cody Ross was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Ross.
