Rockies Win at Montreal, 7-3
|
The Colorado Rockies picked up a win at La Stade Olympique, knocking off the Montreal Expos, 7-3. Starting pitcher Mike Boddicker, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 7 innings, Boddicker surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. The second-place Rockies improved to 23-22.
Colorado relied on the hitting of Jon Nunnally to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Rockies on top, 5-0. For the game, Nunnally had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Boddicker told reporters after the game.
