Rockies Lose to Expos, 3-1
|
Colorado got a terrific performance from pitcher Bob Cain, but it wasn't enough to beat the Montreal Expos. Montreal won the La Stade Olympique contest, 3-1. Cain was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings allowing 3 runs. Montreal currently is in second place in the National League Left at 24-18.
The Expos got a big at-bat from shortstop Francisco Lindor. For the game, Lindor went 2-3 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 41st hit of the season gave Montreal a 2-1 lead.
Lindor told a Montreal Citizen reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
