The Boston Red Sox topped the Arizona Diamondbacks by the score of 4-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to center fielder Adam C Eaton. Eaton went 2-2 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs for the Red Sox on the day. George Mohart picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Kent Peterson was tagged with the loss. The Red Sox bumped their record to 22-20 with this latest triumph.

Boston took a 3-2 lead on Dale Long's 32nd hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Long hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Arizona pitcher Ismael Valdez shaking his head.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Long told the Boston Daily News.
