Diamondbacks Win at Boston, 1-0
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks did just enough to sneak past the Boston Red Sox, 1-0, at Fenway Park. Arizona pitcher Chuck Taylor earned player of the game honors. Ismael Valdez finished to wrap up his 4th save. The Diamondbacks saw their record improve to 17-24.
Arizona used the clutch hitting of Eddie Mathews to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Diamondbacks the lead, 1-0. For the game, Mathews had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Boston manager Daniel Hornbaker. "The effort was great."
