Royals Lose to Pirates, 3-2
|
Pittsburgh and Kansas City duked it out at PNC Park and the Pirates came out victorious.
The Pittsburgh Pirates got a stellar effort from pitcher Cloyd Boyer, helping Pittsburgh score a 3-2 win over the visiting Kansas City Royals. Ricky Bottalico got credit for the save for Pittsburgh. It was his 2nd of the year.
Johnny Groth, who finished 3rd in the NL in batting average with .276 last year, aided the Pittsburgh cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder went 2-3 with a double and a walk.
"I like our moxie," said Pirates manager Cory Einhorn.
Pittsburgh is now 22-18, 2 games up in the National League Right.
