The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Kansas City Royals, 6-3, at PNC Park today. Leading the charge for Pittsburgh was center fielder Vada Pinson. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The Pirates bumped their record to 21-18 with this latest triumph.

The Pirates got a big at-bat from left fielder Johnny Groth. For the game, Groth went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead.

"We take it day by day here," said Pinson, "and today was a good one for us."
