Colorado right fielder Jon Nunnally pounded New York Mets pitchers at Astrodome, but it was not enough to keep the Rockies from falling, 8-6 in Game 3 of the World Series. Nunnally hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Rockies slip to a 2-1 deficit in the best-of-7 series.

With no one out in the top of the fourth, Bob Elliott barreled up a fastball from Glendon Rusch. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Mets in front, 7-1.

"The vibe's good," said New York manager Jamie Dagostini. "We've got to keep it going."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Matt Garza for New York and Ben Sheets for Colorado.
