South Side Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in DS
|
With starter Mace Brown leading the charge, the South Side White Sox defeated the Colorado Rockies, 6-5, in Game 3 of the Divisional Series today. The right-hander threw 9 innings of 7-hit ball at Comisky Park to help South Side take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Had Carl Furillo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Furillo hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the White Sox.
"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Furillo said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Ben Sheets for Colorado and John Mitchell for South Side.
