The Arizona Diamondbacks started the Divisional Series in style today, winning on the road against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park by a score of 12-6 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Diamondbacks designated hitter Boog Powell was named player of the game after he went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice.

Arizona used a timely hit from Joe Garagiola to get the win. The catcher delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the second inning to put the Diamondbacks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Alex Baxter said.

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in Boston. Slated to start are Doug Davis for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Clayton Richard for the the Boston Red Sox.
