Royals Beat Marlins in 11
|
The Kansas City Royals took Miami pitcher Jack Fisher's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Kauffman Stadium. The final score had Kansas City getting past the Marlins, 2-1. Fisher went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 5. The Marlins, at 12-21, have lost 4 straight games.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Bob L Bowman came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Miami pitcher Ralph Birkofer, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kansas City on top, 2-1.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Bowman said.
