3-1 Win by Cubs Continues Hot Start
|
The Bronx Yankees went down to defeat to Fritz Peterson and his Chicago teammates. The final score was 3-1 in favor of the Cubs. With their winning streak at 4, the Cubs have raced to a strong start this season.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from shortstop Phil Rizzuto. For the game, Rizzuto went 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 33rd hit of the season gave Chicago a 3-1 lead.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Chicago manager Matt Ida.
