The Pittsburgh Pirates went down to defeat to Ed Correa and his St. Louis teammates. The final score was 9-0 in favor of the Cardinals. With the win, St. Louis goes to 16-16.

It could have been a different outcome for St. Louis, had it not been for Tom Murphy, the slugging catcher . Murphy contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put St. Louis up, 2-0.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Murphy said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
