The Colorado Rockies thumped the Kansas City Royals, 9-2, at Kauffman Stadium. Keith Hernandez was a big reason his team got the win. Hernandez went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The Royals fall to 12-20 and continue their uneasy start to the 1969 season.

The result might have been different for Colorado, had it not been for Biff Pocoroba. The catcher produced a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 3-0. For the game, Pocoroba had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Pocoroba.
