Rockies Win at Kansas City, 1-0
|
Colorado starter Glendon Rusch pitched effectively against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 1-0 win. Rusch got the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 4 hits and walked 4 over 7.1 innings. Rusch allowed no earned runs. Daniel Bard was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
It could have been a different outcome for Colorado, had it not been for Keith Hernandez, the ten-time All-Star . Hernandez contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Colorado up, 1-0.
"Glendon's tempo and rhythm were good," said Rockies manager Ben Thompson. "He was the key to us winning."
The Royals fall to 12-19 and continue to sputter in the early going.
