The Mets had to overcome a fine performance from St. Louis pitcher Ed Correa to grab a 6-4 win at Busch Stadium. Correa allowed no earned runs over 6 innings. New York reliever Chad Gaudin picked up the win, bumping his record to 6-3. Hal Kelleher was collared with the loss. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Mets.

New York used the clutch hitting of Bob Elliott to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Mets the lead, 5-3. For the game, Elliott had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

Elliott said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
