Big Day at the Plate for Martin Not Enough for Expos
|
The Milwaukee Brewers outlasted Al L Martin and the Montreal Expos, 8-7. Martin was impressive in the loss. The Montreal center fielder was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. Milwaukee, now 12-18, is off to a slow start.
Had Willard Hershberger not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hershberger hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Brewers.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Hershberger told the Milwaukee Gazette.
