Brewers Take Nail-Biter Over White Sox
|
County Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Milwaukee Brewers and the South Side White Sox.
The inspired effort of South Side right fielder Trea Turner was not enough to prevent a 8-7 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. Turner was 2 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Reliever Joe Bokina picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Rich Hunter took the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Rick Schu came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing South Side pitcher Rich Hunter, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 8-7.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said South Side manager Ricky Sanford. "The effort was great."
At 62-95, the Brewers are currently last in the National League Right.
