Expos Win at Pittsburgh, 6-4
|
The Montreal Expos topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-4, with catcher Keith Moreland playing a big role. Moreland was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Expos in the win. Steve Dunning got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 2 and walking 5. Montreal is off to a hot start at 2-1.
Moreland had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-1 knuckleball from Gene Bearden, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Expos a 3-1 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Moreland.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Moreland told the Montreal Citizen.
