Brewers Bang Out 7-3 Win Versus Pittsburgh
|
Pittsburgh shortstop Benji Gil was sensational. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Milwaukee beat the Pirates, 7-3. Gil was named the player of the game despite the loss. Milwaukee is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 10th win in 28 games.
Hersh Martin, who is tied for 4th in the NL in doubles with 7, aided the Milwaukee cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Martin told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
