Victory Pushes Yankees Record to 15-12
|
The Bronx Yankees got a good effort from starter Matt Young in defeating the Brooklyn Dodgers at Yankee Stadium I. The final score was 4-1. Young went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 4-1. The Dodgers fall to 11-16 and continue their lackluster start in 1969.
Scooter Gennett put Bronx in front, 4-1, when he took Jimmie Keenan downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the fourth. It was his 4th home run of the season.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Bronx manager Cley Twigg.
