McBean Dazzles in Arizona Win
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Bronx Yankees were eager to watch Kerry Wood square off against Al McBean of the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. In the end, the Diamondbacks won the game, 5-0, with Al McBean earning player of the game honors.

McBean, a native of Charlotte Amalie, Virgin Islands, was dealing all game. He kept Bronx hitters off-balance, while giving the Diamondbacks 8.2 quality innings. McBean threw 103 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 4.

"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," McBean told the Arizona Chronicle.
