Red Sox Need Extras to Top Dodgers

Boston left-hander Sean West helped his team edge Brooklyn by the score of 2-1. West kept the opposing lineup in check. The Dodgers fall to 9-11 and continue their lackluster start in 1969.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jayson Werth came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Tex Shirley, he hit a 2-2 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 2-1.
"Sean is still learning," said Red Sox manager Daniel Hornbaker. "The sky's the limit for him."
