Red Sox Get Road Win, 8-1
|
Getting an impressive start from Doug Waechter, Boston beat Milwaukee by the score of 8-1. Waechter, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 3 walks. The Brewers fall to 6-13 and continue their lackluster start in 1969.
Steve Braun had a big run-scoring single for the Red Sox in the top of the third inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Jason Ryan and stroked the single to left. It was his 21st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Red Sox ahead, 2-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Braun. "And not try to do too much."
