|
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-4. Earning player of the game honors was right fielder Jayson Werth, who was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Boston starter Clayton Richard was credited with the win after throwing 92 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. Pedro J Martinez got credit for the save for Boston. It was his 2nd of the year.
Dale Long, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1967 draft, aided the Boston cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 3 with a walk.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Werth said after the game.
The Brewers, now 6-12, continue their poor start.
