Rockies Lose to Tigers, 7-4
|
Detroit and Colorado duked it out at Astrodome and the Tigers came out victorious.
Colorado catcher Max Ramirez was sensational. He went 4-4 with 4 singles, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Detroit beat the Rockies, 7-4. Ramirez was named the player of the game despite the loss. Detroit reliever Frank Eufemia was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Mike Boddicker took the loss for Colorado. Larry Gura picked up the save, his 1st.
It could have been a different outcome for Detroit, had it not been for Jerry Turner, the 20-year old left fielder . Turner contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Detroit up, 4-3.
Turner told a Detroit Chronicle reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Tigers, now 2-0, have stormed out of the gates.
