Pirates Best Dodgers in Pitching Duel
|
Pittsburgh left-hander James Paxton pitched his team to a shutout win, 2-0, over the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Dodgers drop to 7-8 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1969 season.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Ricky Bottalico didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Brooklyn trailing 2-0, Bottalico retired Leo Posada to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Bottalico, with a wink.
