Great Effort by Batista Wasted in 9-6 Pirates Loss
The Montreal Expos had to overcome a big game from Pittsburgh shortstop Tony Batista to leave PNC Park with a 9-6 victory. Batista belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Kevin Tapani, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 6-12.
