Pirates Rally to Eke Out Win
The Pittsburgh Pirates handed the Montreal Expos a loss at PNC Park. The final score was 6-5. Tony Conigliaro was named player of the game for Pittsburgh. In addition to his 2 singles and 2 home runs, he scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Pittsburgh reliever Ricky Bottalico picked up the win, upping his record to 10-5. Rod Beck took the loss. The losing streak for Montreal has now reached 5 games.

Conigliaro had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 13th. On a first pitch slider from Rod Beck, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Pirates a 6-5 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Conigliaro.

"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Cory Einhorn.
