Mets Score Late, Upend Marlins, 2-1
|
New York got an elite performance from starting pitcher Clise Dudley in taking a 2-1 decision over the Miami Marlins. Scott Stewart earned his 3rd save in 4 chances. The first-place Mets have won 4 consecutive games.
Had Bob Elliott not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Elliott hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Mets.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said New York manager Jamie Dagostini.
