Brewers Walk It Off for 58th Win of Season
|
The County Stadium faithful were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
Milwaukee got an elite performance from starting pitcher Don August in taking a 1-0 decision over the Chicago Cubs. Scot Shields, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Roberto Kelly came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Chicago pitcher Adam Ottavino, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 1-0.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Michael Ejercito.
Milwaukee now has a 3-game win streak.
