Yankees Get Road Win, 7-5
|
The Brooklyn Dodgers and Bronx Yankees cranked it up at Ebbets Field.
The Bronx Yankees knocked off the Brooklyn Dodgers, 7-5, at Ebbets Field. Gee Walker, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Bronx won. The right fielder went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. David Palmer, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 11-14.
It could have been a different outcome for Bronx, had it not been for Jeff Branson, the top prospect . Branson contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the seventh inning to put Bronx up, 6-5.
Walker told the Bronx Daily News: "I was born for the big stage."
The Yankees bumped their record to 77-72 with this latest triumph.
