Expos Edge Rockies, 2-1
|
The Montreal Expos got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Denny McLain, but it was good enough for the club to take a 2-1 decision over the Colorado Rockies. Pat Caraway got the save, his 4th in 6 chances. The Expos saw their record improve to 63-82.
The Expos got a big at-bat from center fielder Al L Martin. For the game, Martin was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 114th hit of the season gave Montreal a 2-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Martin told the Montreal Citizen.
