Nieman Powers Yankees to 9-3 Win
|
Benefiting from Bob Nieman's productive game, the Bronx Yankees downed the Milwaukee Brewers, 9-3. Nieman was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Yankees. Jim Hickey was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Don Mossi picked up the save for Bronx, his 1st of the year.
Nieman came through with some timely hitting for Bronx. With the score 0-0 in the top of the third and one down, Nieman hit a 1-1 curveball for a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season made it 2-0, Bronx.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Nieman.
The Yankees are off to a tough start, getting just their 6th win in 15 games.
