Kansas City catcher Darrell Porter had a good game, even if his team did not. The Royals dropped a 4-3 decision to Milwaukee at County Stadium. Porter went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Adam Eaton was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Joe Bokina converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Curt Flood had a big run-scoring single for the Brewers in the bottom of the second inning. With Milwaukee leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from Russ Kemmerer and stroked the single to center. It was his 134th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Brewers ahead, 4-2.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Kansas City skipper Mike Roltgen.
At 54-91, the Brewers find themselves in last place in the National League Right.
