Cardinals Lose to Marlins, 4-1
|
The Miami Marlins got a strong performance from pitcher Dick Pole, who stymied the St. Louis offense en route to a 4-1 win at Turner Field. Pole, now 9-10, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Miami bumps their record to 66-78 with the win.
The Marlins got a big at-bat from catcher Miguel Montero. For the game, Montero was 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 107th hit of the season gave Miami a 3-1 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Montero.
