Red Sox Stun Expos, 2-1
|
Boston beat Montreal at Fenway Park, eking out a 2-1 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Tyler Anderson, who earned player of the game honors. Boston has 4 straight wins, Montreal 5 straight losses.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Johnny Rizzo came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Montreal pitcher Snipe Hansen, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 2-1.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Anderson.
